Prawns Curry
 
I'm a fishetarian. 
In that too I eat only prawns and pomfret once in a blue moon! (Read once a year)!😁
This is my mom's recipe and she makes the yummiest curry.
I am saving her recipe here because
I don't want to keep on asking for recipe everytime
As I've mentioned I don't make this often!

Ingredients

For prawns marinade
  1. 250 gms prawns (deshelled and deveined)
  2. 2 tablespoon lemon juice
  3. 1 teaspoon red chilli powder
  4. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  5. Little salt
  6. Keep it aside till you prep for masala

For masala
  1. 1 medium size onion
  2. 1/4 cup of coconut( handful of grated coconut)
  3. 1 small tomato
  4. 1 teaspoon crushed ginger 
  5. 1 teaspoon crushed garlic 
  6. 1 tablespoon chopped coriander leaves
  7. 1 tablespoon Kashmiri red chilli powder
  8. 1/2 teaspoon turmeric powder
  9. 3 tablespoon oil ( yes you heard right, any fish or non veg curry is incomplete without extra oil)
  10. Heat the kadai, add oil, once the oil is moderately hot add onion and coconut
  11. Fry till it's slightly pinkish on low to medium flame, took me about 10-15 min
  12. I was literally stirring it on low flame!
  13. Let that mixture cool down a bit, remove it in mixie jar, add crushed ginger, garlic, tomato, coriander leaves , red chilli powder and turmeric powder and grind it to fine paste 
  14. Keep it aside.
  15. Now in that same kadai with leftover oil, heat the kadai to moderate hot
  16. Add prawns marinade and fry for 5-10min
  17. It will start leaving water and that normal. We will use that in curry 
  18. Keep it aside

Now for frying masala 
  1. 2 tablespoon oil
  2. 1/2 teaspoon mustard seeds
  3. 5-6 curry leaves
  4. 1 tablespoon red chilli powder
  5. 1/2 teaspoon royal garam masala I used Everest brand
  6. Heat another kadai, add oil, when the oil is moderately hot add mustard seeds let it splutter, then add curry leaves, then quickly add red chilli powder and masala paste before the red chilli turn to brown 
  7.  Mix well,  add garam masala powder and little chopped coriander leaves and fry the masala  till you see oil leaving it edges. 
  8. Fry the masala really well!
  9. Now add fried prawns cover and cook for 5 min without adding water
  10. After 5min add leftover water from prawns marinade and 1 cup water. 
  11. And cook for 5-7min
Serve hot with rice!
