Sugar Doughnuts / Donuts

Sugar Doughnuts

I made these on special demand from my little one!
Probably little one watched it somewhere on the TV
So here it goes

Ingredients
1-1/2 cup APF/ Maida + little for dusting/ rolling doughnuts
3/4 cup warm milk
2 tablespoon sugar + little powdered sugar
1 teaspoon instant yeast
2 tablespoon butter
1/2 teaspoon salt
Pinch of nutmeg (optional, please do add it gives subtle flavour to the doughnuts)

Method
1. In warm milk add sugar, mix until the sugar is dissolved then add yeast and set it aside for 10mins
2. In a sperate large bowl, add flour, nutmeg and salt..and mix the dry ingredients well
3. To the dry ingredients now add the milk, sugar and yeast mixture, mix everything until the dough comes together..(the dough should be slightly sticky)now add butter and gently knead the dough, keep it aside for min 45mins
4. Once doubled in size, drop the dough to a clean and floured surface, roll the dough out using a rolling pin to approximately 2 cm thickness. Take a round cookie cutter or lid and cut out as many circles as you can. Use a smaller lid/ cookie cutter to punch hole inside the disc.
5. Place the cut out doughnuts on a floured tray and cover with a damp cloth. Let them rise for another 30minutes or until almost doubled in size.
6. Fry the doughnuts In a large heavy bottomed pot, fill enough oil so that it comes 3/4 way up. Let the oil heat up on low heat and fry the doughnuts. Let them cook for 2-3 minutes per side or until light golden brown.
7. Coat the fried hot doughnuts in caster sugar or powdered sugar(that’s what I used) for the classic look.
